A message to my subscribers…

Well, after quite some time, I thought that all of you deserve an explanation about the current state of the mod and why the f*** is taking so much time. As a proof of my honesty, I recorded myself (Which I really hate) talking in English (which I think is embarrassing) to give you all the information you’ve been waiting for. If you have more questions, I will be pleased of answering you here. ;)

SDK-Project Status

Probably most of you are wondering what the hell is going on with this mod.

First, and as a usual statement: NO, THIS MOD IS NOT DEAD.

Second , I want to apologize to all of you for not showing any media more often, but most of the changes are gameplay related, so you will not notice the difference.

Third, I haven’t updated my YouTube Channel since 6 months already. Of course I could show something, but I’m keeping the whole surprise for the right moment, and I promise: it’s worth!

This last Christmas I couldn’t go back to Spain, and so, I spent like 2 weeks working non-stop with SDK-Project, porting BlockStorm to Orange Box, creating an easy and accesible menu (Of course, in Hammer) and fixing Ouija’s gameplay. I must say that porting my old mods to Orange Box has been a pain in the ass, due to many changes in the SDK since the last time I updated them.

So… what’s the status?

BlockStorm: Finished.

Foozball Fever: Gameplay finished. Minor changes.

Pacman Missions: Gameplay finished. It needs more levels.

Xen Invaders: Gameplay needs to be polished.

My first goal will be to include those mods in SDK-Project’s first release, which somehow I expect that to be possible before Summer 2009. After the release, I will update SDK-Project with new mods as soon as I finish them. Of course, SDK-Project will be released with all the source files that you may need to modify / experiment / investigate / improve the games included.

By the way, THANKS to all of you for your support, patience and forgiveness! You are the reason why I don’t give up. ;)

Me, my project and the big screen…

2ª Parte3ª Parte

Eng_flag No needs of long descriptions. A video featuring me talking about my projects in the 2º VideoGames Developers’s Meeting in Seville. Thanks for watching. News soon!

New media…

Just a bit of new media… new bars, new ambience, new sounds and the possibility of hitting the ball forwards and backwards. Enjoy and comment! (By the way, I haven’t chenged the formations yet, so don’t complain about that… ok?)

“No spinning!” and some references…

Thanks for all your comments, you’ve helped so much adjusting what’s exactly what the people wants from this mod. The first issue to resolve was the “spinning problem“. Well, this is not longer a problem:

BEFORE:

- Tapping the SPACE key once made the line spin forwards until the player tap it again to stop it.

NOW:

- While you keep pressed the SPACE key, the line will spin forward. If you stop pressing the SPACE key, the line will stop.

- While you keep pressed the ALT key, the line will spin backward. If you stop pressing the ALT key, the line will stop.

Another issue about this mod is the “formation problem“. It depends on where are you playing “Foozball”, or “Foosball”, or “Table Football”, or “Baby-foot”, or “Futbolín” (as it is called here in Spain). So many different names keeps sometimes differences between each country, as the formations are. While here in Spain one of the most common formations is “3 – 3 – 4″, in USA, for example, is “2 – 5 – 3″. I thought it would be great give to the player the chance of choosing his prefered formation, but that’s not realistic (And is hard to do in Hammer as hell!). Each table has a formation for both teams, depending on the place where that table is coming from. Here are some examples about tables and formations:

American >>>  (1/3) – 2 – 5 – 3

French >>> 1 – 2 – 5 – 3

Catalan >>> 1 – 3 – 3 – 4

Spanish >>> 1 – 3 – 4 – 3

So many people were really annoyed about the sppining effect and about the formation I had in the video. Now I know It doesn’t exist, actually , anywhere, just in my perverted imagination. I’m not an expert about this… actually I always prefered billiards than foozball, for that reason I’m beggin for your help, for your suggestions and for your comments. If something is wrong, please, tell me! That’s the way to make this mod something nearly to perfection!
By the way, thanks to Nokyol0, who is going to help me with some models and ideas… and also with the testing. ;)

Information extracted from HERE (English) and HERE (Spanish).

Foozball Fever !

Finally I can show you information about this mod! I don’t know how popular this thing is out of my country, but here is like billiards. The original idea is not mine, but is not “unique” either. You can find some foozball games in internet but, as a mod, this is so special… now you can play against your friends in Internet thanks to Half-Life 2… and me *ehem*.

Some of the features included right now are:

- You can choose your prefered color for your team.

- You can choose between 3 control types:

* AUTOMATIC: Lines are chosen automatically by ball’s position.

* NORMAL: Switch the lines forward and backwards using the arrow keys.

* PROFESSIONAL: Use A – S – D – F to choose each line. Is more complex, but in this way you can combine lines by pressing keys at the same time and you can switch faster than using other controls.

- Ermmm… well… that’s all… what do you expect from such game? Night Vision Googles? It’s a Foozball Game!

In a nearly future this mod will include different locations with different tables, hopefully, around 4 maps.

Hammer view: THISISINSANE (But it works!)

A very simple mod (Not easy to create at all), funny and different to all the things you have seen previously for Half-Life 2. Now it’s time for your comments!

Hammer view: UNAPUTALOCURA (¡Pero funciona!)
