About Arts and Mapping…

Sorry for being such a lazy bastard. I should take care of my beloved website uploading some information about what I’m doing everyday. It seems that I forgot about my mods, my maps and Hammer, but it’s completely the opposite thing! I have been busy making a piece of digital art which has been exposed in Seville’s University of Arts and also finishing my virtual room. I have been waiting a few days until the people of GAMEFLOOD could fix a problem with the installation path of the map, but if I continue waiting for them, I couldn’t join their Map Contest with this map in time. So, here is the final version of my room:

I didn’t know what to do with this map… preparing it for HL2 Deathmatch? Counter-Strike: Source? No, no, no… I didn’t like any of them for this map, I mean, I didn’t like this map to be played in those games. So? I decided to create a special minigame just for it. When you start playing the map, you will see how a bunch of headcrabs spreads around the room and, after that, you can move with total freedom looking for those hidden headcrabs in every corner of the place. Your mission is to find 30 of them… that’s all! I use this minigame to force the player take a look of all the details of my map. This is how the game starts:

DOWNLOAD it from GameFlood and follow the instructions until they fix the problem, ok?

INSTRUCTIONS: When you download the map, GameFlood file manager will install it directly in HL2DM map folder. Go there and copy the following files: “baxaroom.bsp” and “Use headcrab’s secret password.rar” which contains the *.VMF file that you can unlock after finding all 30 headcrabs. After copying those files, paste them in the Episode 1 map directory, which is “episodic/maps”. After that, run Episode 1 with the console enabled and write “map baxaroom”. Enjoy finding alien kittens!

Here is the video which was exposed in Seville’s University of Arts (Made by me and Daniel Franca Camacho)

By the way, today I received a call from Pyro Studios (Developers of Commandos and Praetorians). I will have an interview in 28 June. Good luck to myself! (Crossed fingers). Also, I made a few changes in this website. Soon it will be a year of SDK-Project and I want to celebrate it with a video showing a whole year of mods and experiments. Stay tunned!
